IFC Checker

How do I save results and share a link?

After a check, choose the Save and get a link button on Results. The results are kept for 30 days, and anyone with the link can read them, read only, until the day the link stops opening. The IFC file itself is not kept, and you can delete the saved results sooner.

Save and share, step by step

  1. Run a check. On Results, find Save and get a link in the head of the page, under the title. In a check of several models, first choose the model's name in the Model table: a link holds the results of one model, and the line under the head says which. The downloads are under the Model table.
  2. Choose it. A short dialog says who can open the results and until when, and that the IFC file is not kept. It also says what else is saved with them: your marks, your changes to the BCF topics and your drafts, and the 3D model when it is small enough.
  3. Tick Show the file name only if the file name may be shared. Without it the shared page says Shared result.
  4. Choose Save. The bar fills while the results are saved.
  5. Choose Copy link and send the whole link. A link cut short does not open.
  6. Back on Results, a quiet line under the head says "Saved until" and the day, with Copy link and Delete.

What is kept

The results, the Model health report, and the 3D model when it fits, until the day the link stops opening, 30 days after you save. The IFC file is not kept. Your marks by hand are saved, with their notes and the name you gave. Your changes to the BCF topics and your drafts are saved too, and a BCF downloaded from the link carries them, without the pictures. Your approvals of untested elements are not saved: the shared page shows the index without them.

The results show element names, GlobalIds and the values checked, so save only what you may share. The privacy notice says where it is all kept, and for how long: Privacy.

What the link opens

The link opens a page that shows the results read only, as they were saved, with the same parts as Results: the 3D view, the Model table, Extended data and the BCF topics. A notice at the top says someone saved this check and shared the link, that IFC Checker does not record who, and that the results are shown as saved, without being verified. The small i beside the title shows the last day the link opens and the model's SHA-256, a fingerprint you can compare with the file you were sent.

On the shared page, choose Check your own model to open Check. With a predefined test, it opens Check with the same test picked. With your own IDS, the test is not saved with the link, so Check opens with no test picked: send the .ids file as well. The page has downloads for BCF, Excel and CSV, but no approvals.

Save again

After you change your marks, BCF topics or drafts, the line under the head says "Saved before your latest marks". Choose Save again for a new link to save again under a new link. The earlier link keeps opening the results as they were saved, until its day.

Delete the saved results

Using the same browser you saved with, choose Delete in the line under the head, or on the page the link opens, then confirm. The link stops working for everyone who has it, and this cannot be undone. From another browser, write to info@ifcchecker.com with the link and ask for them to be deleted.

When saving or opening does not work

  • "No connection. The results were not saved.": you are offline. Try again when the connection is back.
  • "Saving is paused for today. Try again tomorrow, or export the results.": saving is paused for today. Try again tomorrow, or export the results.
  • Too many saves from this connection in the last minute. Wait a minute and try again.: wait a minute and try again.
  • A result too large to save is refused with its size and the largest size that can be saved: export it instead.
  • "This result is not available": the link has expired, was deleted, or never existed. Ask the person who sent it for a new one.
  • "This link is incomplete. Copy the whole link and open it again.": the link was cut short. Copy the whole link and open it again.

When the 3D model is too large to save, the results are saved without it, the saved dialog says so, and the shared page says: "The 3D view was not saved with these results."
