Turn a wrong value into a rule
- In Extended data, click the cell with the value you do not want. A small Mark button appears in it.
- Choose Mark. Under Mark as issue choose A rule for every similar case. The other choice, These elements only, marks only the elements you selected and changes no rule.
- If the test has a rule for this value and a new rule beside it is also possible, choose which one you mean under Which rule, then choose Next.
- Say what is wrong with the value. Only the choices that can work are offered, each with how many elements fail the rule now and how many after the change. The first choice allows only the other values the check found; for a yes or no value, it asks for the other answer.
- Choose Change the rule (or Add the rule for a new rule). The models are checked again with the changed test, on the same page.
- Read the line under the Extended data heading. It says "The test is changed" and what the rule says. Choose Undo in it to check the test as it was, or Download IDS to save the changed IDS.
What changes and what stays
The test you chose stays as it was, and so does the IDS editor's own draft. The change is an IDS of your own: it lives in this session and in the file you download. A link to saved results carries the results, not the IDS, so keep the .ids file you downloaded. To go on with it, drop it on Check with a model, or open it in the IDS editor.
A failure that is not an issue
A failure you mark Not an issue in the same way becomes an exception in the test: the rule leaves out elements like it, allows its value too, or takes elements without the property. The rule step asks which, and shows what the new check will find, in the same short steps.
When a rule cannot be made
Some marks have no rule to change. The menu then greys A rule for every similar case and says why in a few words: the selection holds values of several properties or several values of one, no rule of the test reads the value, or the check had no IDS. Mark the elements only, or write the rule in the IDS editor. If the change does not pass the IDS checks, the step says so and nothing is changed.
