IFC Checker

How do I use the Model section?

The Model section of Results has one row for each model of the check, with its file, IFC schema, size, the program that wrote it, the Model health result, how many elements it has, how many are untested and failed, and its index. A click on a count shows those elements in 3D. The downloads for the whole check are under the table.

Read the Model section, step by step

  1. Run a check and find the Model section under the 3D view. A line beside its heading says how many files the check has and which test it ran, with the test's version.
  2. Read the row of your model. After the status and the short name come the file's own facts: File, Schema (the IFC schema its header names), Size and Exported from (the program that wrote the file and the day, as the file says them).
  3. Read the result columns: Model health, the number of elements, the untested and failed counts, the index, and Previous, the index of the earlier check of the same model with the same test.
  4. Choose a count, for example the number of failed elements. Those elements show in the 3D view above, and Esc goes back.
  5. Choose the small Tab › beside the untested count to open the Untested tab of Extended data.
  6. Choose the model's short name, such as SAM-01, to give it a name of your own, up to six characters. The short name stands for the model in the panel, the tabs and the BCF topics.
  7. Under the table, choose Download Excel, Download CSV or Download BCF to download the whole result (how the files differ).

What the columns say

  • Status: whether the model's 3D view is loaded, and whether it has been tested. While a model is checked, a bar shows which step the check is in and how far it has come, and the row fills in when its check ends.
  • Model health: Pass, or the number of issues found in the file itself, with warnings counted apart. Choose it to see those elements in 3D. What Model health checks.
  • Elements, Untested, Failed: how many elements the model has, how many no specification applies to, and how many fail. Each is a button. The failed count is the number the analytical view shows.
  • Index: the Model Correctness Index of this model, or the reason it is withheld, shown when you point at the cell.
  • Previous: the index of the most recent earlier check of a model with the same file name and the same test. Marks such as _v2 or (1) in a file name are ignored, so a model exported again counts as the same. Only a check with an IDS gives an index, so a check of Model health alone has none. A model checked for the first time says "No earlier check". The column matches by file name, so a fixed model exported again still shows the index of its earlier check.

Several models

A check of up to five models has a row for each, and the same page shows them all: the 3D view draws every model together and the analytical view starts at the project level. The last row, All, adds them up: how many models have ended, their sizes and counts, their Model health issues, and one index for all of them. While a model is still checked, or when one gave no result, that index says withheld, and the reason is in its tooltip.

Choose a model's file name to see its elements alone in Extended data and its own numbers in the analytical view. Choose it again, or All, or Show all models, to see every model.

Downloads and saving

The three downloads sit under the table because they belong to the whole check. With one model they download at once. With several, each opens a small menu: Whole check gives one file with every model, Each model separately gives one ZIP with a file for each. The line under the buttons says what the file holds. Save and get a link and the link it makes are in Save results and share a link.
