Use the analytical view, step by step
- Run a check. Results opens with the analytical view over the left side of the 3D view.
- Read the Model Correctness Index, then Untested, Failed and Passed under it. Choose the small i beside a number to read what it means and, for the index, how this check's own numbers give it.
- Choose a number, for example Failed. Its elements show in the 3D view, with a small "In 3D" mark on the number. Press Esc to go back.
- In What fails most, choose a name, for example Pset_BeamCommon. The panel goes down to that property set: its own index, its own counts and its failing properties. The 3D view shows only the elements of the set that fail.
- Read Most failed properties: each property has the number of elements that fail it, split into Empty, Wrong and Other when the panel is wide.
- Choose the model's name in the breadcrumb at the top of the panel, or press Esc, to go back up to the model.
- Choose the arrows beside the panel, Narrow the analytical view or Widen the analytical view, to change its width. Wide, it also shows the progress chart and the totals for every group of requirements.
What the numbers say
- Model Correctness Index: how well the model meets the test. It is the share of tested elements that pass, lowered by up to 20 percent for elements no specification reached. It runs from 0.00 to 1.00, is cut to two decimals and is never rounded up. The index article gives the formula and when the index is withheld.
- Untested: elements no specification of the test applies to. Untested is never Pass.
- Failed: elements that miss at least one requirement of a specification that applies to them.
- Passed: elements that meet every requirement of every specification that applies to them.
- Generic elements: building elements with no proper class of their own (
IfcBuildingElementProxy). Tests aimed at walls or doors miss them, so they are shown as a warning. They never change the index.
After a second check of the same model with the same test, a small signed number at the top right of each count says how it changed since the earlier check.
Three levels
The panel works on up to three levels, and the same clicks work on each.
- Project: only in a check of several models. It shows every model together, a chart of totals for each model, and the model with the lowest index. A model's name opens that model.
- Model: one model. The numbers are that model's own, and the table and Extended data under the panel follow it.
- Property set: one group of requirements of the model, such as Pset_WallCommon. It has its own index, which is the share of its tested elements that pass, with no deduction for untested elements.
A name takes you down a level, a number shows its elements in 3D and stays where it is, and the breadcrumb goes up. Esc takes back what you picked on the level first, and goes up one level when nothing is picked. In a check of several models, the model's name in the breadcrumb has a menu to jump to another model, and the set's name always has a menu to jump to another property set.
The progress chart
When the panel is wide it shows Validation progress over time: the totals of the checks of this model in this tab, one after another, and then three estimated checks. The estimate assumes that a share of the failing elements is fixed at each check, the share your last checks fixed, and says so under the chart. It is an estimate, not a result, and it never changes a count. Choose a point on the chart to see those elements.
