IFC Checker

How do I export BCF issues, Excel or CSV?

After a check, Results offers three downloads, a BCF 2.1 file of issues, an Excel workbook and a CSV file. The BCF topics name the IDS the model was checked against, and each failure in the spreadsheets names its BCF topic. You can also download only some topics, or only the untested elements.

Download the files, step by step

  1. Run a check.
  2. On Results, scroll to the Model table. Under it are Download Excel, Download CSV and Download BCF.
  3. Choose one. With one model the file downloads at once. In a check of several models each opens a menu: Whole check gives one file with every model, and Each model separately gives one ZIP with a file for each model, named by the model's file name.
  4. Read the line under the buttons: it names the file and what it holds, such as how many topics are open.
  5. To send only some topics in the BCF, tick them in BCF topics and choose Download picked (BCF topics). To send only some of a topic's elements, tick rows in Extended data and choose Add to BCF (drafts).
  6. To send the elements no specification reached, open the Untested tab and choose Download untested as BCF (untested elements).
  7. After a rule made on Results has changed the test, choose Download IDS beside the downloads to save the changed IDS (how).

What each file holds

  • BCF: one topic for each specification and group of requirements (a property set, attributes, material, classification or location), listing its elements and what each fails, a summary topic, a topic for each warning, and your marks by hand. Each viewpoint has a picture of its elements from the 3D view, or the IFC Checker mark where none could be drawn. Results in doubt are never topics: the summary topic counts them. Your changes to the topics, your comments and your drafts are in the file you download next.
  • Excel: a workbook for people, with the sheets Summary, Topics, Findings and Untested, and numbers stored as numbers.
  • CSV: the findings as plain rows, one for each finding, for other programs to read.
  • With Model health picked, both spreadsheets list its issues with their line and record in the file.

Each failure in the spreadsheets names its BCF topic, so a row in Excel and a topic in your authoring or coordination tool can be matched. A topic keeps the same ID every time the same model is checked against the same test.

Several models

A check of several models downloads as one file for the whole check, or one ZIP with a file for each model. Models that gave no result are not in the files, and one line under the buttons says how many.

When a download does not start

The buttons are greyed while the check runs, and a check of Model health alone has no downloads, because they need an IDS. A line under the buttons says why. If a file is not saved, a notice says so and offers to try again.

From a shared link

A page opened from a saved link has the same downloads, with the saver's marks, topic changes and drafts in them. Save results and share a link.
