# Workflows and help

How to use IFC Checker: check an IFC model against IDS requirements, read the Model Correctness Index and the results, export BCF issues, Excel and CSV, and write an IDS.

Updated 2 November 2026

## Workflows

A workflow follows the job from a model to fixed issues: add the model, pick a test, run the check, read the index and the results, export the issues, fix them in your authoring tool and check again. The menu on the left has a topic for each part of it. Pick the topic you need, or follow the flow for your role.

- [Getting started](https://ifcchecker.com/help/collections/start/): What IFC Checker is, the main screen and your first check.
- [Adding models](https://ifcchecker.com/help/collections/models/): Drop up to five models, or try the sample model.
- [Picking the test](https://ifcchecker.com/help/collections/tests/): A predefined test and its stage, or your own IDS.
- [Model health](https://ifcchecker.com/help/collections/health/): The check of the file itself, and how to read its report.
- [Understanding a result](https://ifcchecker.com/help/collections/results/): The index, the status words and the page as a whole.
- [The sections of Results](https://ifcchecker.com/help/collections/sections/): The 3D view, the analytical view, the tables and BCF topics.
- [The IDS editor](https://ifcchecker.com/help/collections/ids/): Write rules in a table, with live counts on a model.
- [Exporting, saving and sharing](https://ifcchecker.com/help/collections/exports/): BCF issues, Excel, CSV, and a link to saved results.
- [Troubleshooting](https://ifcchecker.com/help/collections/troubleshooting/): A file that is refused, or a 3D view that is slow or empty.
