# What if I check a model again?

When you drop a model you checked before and pick the same test, IFC Checker shows the results of that earlier check at once instead of checking it a second time, and says so, with a Check again button to check it now. A model changed in any way is a new model and is checked.

## Check the same model again

1. Check a model, then close the tab or come back later and add the same file again on **Check**.
2. Pick the same test as before and choose **Run checker**.
3. Look at **Results**. It opens at once with the earlier results. A line says "**Results of an earlier check of the same file with the same test.**", and the header dates that check: "Checked" and the day.
4. To check the model now instead, choose **Check again** in that line.
5. In the **Model** table, read the **Previous** column. It gives the index of the earlier check of the same model with the same test, so you can see whether a fixed model got better.

## What counts as the same

A model is the same when its content is the same, not its name, and a test is the same when its rules are the same. If you fix the model and export it again, it is a new model, so it is checked. Adding the same unchanged file under another name finds the earlier results too. Picking another test, changing the IDS, or switching **Model health** on or off also starts a new check, and so does a new version of the engine.

The sample model is the one exception. It is checked live every time.

## In a check of several models

Each model is looked up on its own. When some models were checked before and others were not, the line says how many show earlier results, for example "2 of the 3 models show results of an earlier check of the same file with the same test", and the others are checked now.

## What is remembered

IFC Checker remembers the results of your recent checks, up to 100, with each file's size and fingerprints of its content and of the test. It does not keep the model, the marks you made on Results or your BCF edits. The **Previous** column of the Model table reads from it. The privacy notice says exactly what is kept, and has the button that clears it: **Forget them**. Open it from the foot of any page, [Privacy](https://ifcchecker.com/#privacy).
